The Wisdom Imperative: Rethinking Leadership for a New India
(Student Editorial by Rishitha – April 13, 2025)
At KP’s 21st Century College, we believe that meaningful leadership begins with thoughtful inquiry and civic reflection. As part of our “Student Pen” editorial initiative, we proudly present an exceptional opinion piece by Rishitha, a student voice engaging with one of the most pressing questions of our time:
How do we choose leaders - Not just with charisma, But with wisdom?
In her article titled “The Wisdom Imperative: Rethinking How We Choose Our Leaders,” Rishitha questions the superficial metrics we often use to evaluate leadership in the digital age. From the pervasive influence of social media to the erosion of ethical judgment in public life, she calls upon the youth to develop discernment, embrace critical thinking, and value empathy, experience, and foresight in the democratic process.
This powerful piece also proposes realistic, grassroots reforms—ranging from mentorship programs and youth-led civic monitoring to the empowerment of women’s groups and informed political participation in rural India.
