These are state-level entrance exams for engineering admissions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, widely taken by MPC students in the region.

CUSAT CAT – Cochin University of Science and Technology
CUSAT conducts the Common Admission Test for its undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs. It’s a good option for students aiming to study in Kerala.

IIIT-H Admissions – UGEE / SPEC / SAT Channel
IIIT Hyderabad offers multiple admission channels beyond JEE, including the UGEE (for research-based programs), SPEC (for special talent), and SAT-based admissions for NRI and foreign students.

ISI Admission Test – Indian Statistical Institute
ISI conducts an entrance exam for programs in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science. It is ideal for students with a strong interest in analytics and research.

IIST – Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology

IIST is a premier institute established by the Department of Space, Government of India, and functions under the umbrella of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). It offers world-class education and research opportunities in the field of space science, technology, and applications.

Admission to IIST is based on JEE Advanced scores, and the institute admits only highly meritorious students due to its specialized focus and limited intake.

Programs Offered:

  • B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering

  • B.Tech in Avionics

  • Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.S./M.Tech) – with specializations in areas such as Astronomy, Earth System Science, and Machine Learning

  • Science, and Machine Learning

FAQ’s On IIST

No, passing JEE Main is not sufficient for admission to the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST). To get into IIST for undergraduate programs, you must also qualify for JEE Advanced and participate in the IIST counseling process, which is separate from JoSAA.
IIST functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India.

Yes ,for becoming an engineer in ISRO ,IIST is the best place , here if you enroll yourself in B.

IIST PG Fees is ₹ 1.72 Lakhs. IIST B. Tech Fees 2025-2026 ranges from ₹ 5.53 Lakhs to 6.89 Lakhs for the entire duration, with total tuition fees of ₹ 5 Lakhs to 6.25 Lakhs, based on branch and admission type.

IST Trivandrum Placement Overview 2023

During 2023 placements, the highest package offered to BTech and Dual Degree students was INR 16.60 LPA and INR 13.20 LPA, respectively. Out of 77 MTech students who appeared for the drive, 51 were placed during IIST placements 2023.

To gain admission to the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), you need a good score in the JEE Advanced exam, which is used to determine the cutoff marks. Generally, you'll need a minimum of 60-65% in JEE Advanced to increase your chances. However, this can vary depending on the year, difficulty of the exam, and the specific program you are applying for. For a more precise idea, Careers360 provides a table showing opening and closing percentages for different categories and programs.

ISRO directly invites IIST students as scientists each year based on their needs. However, in order to be considered for ISRO, you must maintain a CGPA of 7.5.

To be eligible for IIST, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks is required in the Class XII board examination. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum requirement is 65%. Admission is based on the score obtained in JEE (Advanced) through IIST counseling.

Elaboration:
  • Qualifying Marks:
Candidates need to have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class 12 (or equivalent) board exam.

  • Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD:
For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, the minimum requirement is 65%.

  • Admission through JEE (Advanced):
Admission to IIST is primarily based on the score obtained in the JEE (Advanced) exam.

  • Counselling:
The final admission process is through IIST's own counselling based on the JEE (Advanced) score.

While IIST (Indian Institute of Space Technology) doesn't have a direct, formal recruitment partnership with NASA, it does offer a strong foundation for pursuing a career at NASA, especially in aerospace engineering. The institute even has a scheme to send its top students to Caltech for master's degrees and internships at JPL, a NASA research center.

Candidates must have successfully cleared JEE Main 2025 (Paper 1) and must be among the top 2,50,000 candidates who have cleared the JEE Main exam to qualify for JEE Advanced 2025.

KVPY / IISER IAT
Although KVPY has been merged into other national admission frameworks, IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) now admit students through the IISER Aptitude Test or CUET for science and research-oriented courses.

CUET – Common University Entrance Test
CUET is used for admissions into undergraduate programs at central universities across India. MPC students can apply for science, technology, and interdisciplinary programs through CUET.
